Tuition and Fees

We believe that excellent, child-driven education should be available to all children and all families in southwest Virginia. To this end, we ask that families contribute to our school as they are able. The tuition rates listed here are our minimums. Please consider the value of your child(ren)’s education and your annual income when you make a tuition commitment. We will have some needs-based financial aid available for the upcoming school year. Application fee – $50
Elementary Classroom (ages 6-12) – $6,200/child,  $5,400/sibling
Primary Classroom (ages 3-6) – $6,000/child,  $5,400/sibling
Primary Classroom part-time – $4,000/child

Montessori education lends itself to open enrollment and we accept applications throughout the year. Students who apply during the school year must complete a two week trial period before being accepted into the program. It is critical to the success and harmony of our classrooms to be sure that each child fits well within the classroom community. After submitting your child’s application, please contact us to schedule your child’s trial period.

Admissions Process

  1. Montessori education is unique.  Before applying, please familiarize yourself with the resources on our website to make sure that our school is a good fit for your child and family.  The first step in our admissions process is to schedule a tour and teacher meeting. If, after your visit, you feel that Moonflower is a good fit for your family, a parent observation of our working classrooms should be scheduled.
  2. Please complete and submit our Application for Admission (below), along with a non-refundable $50 application processing fee.
  3. We will review your application and contact you within two weeks of receipt of your application.
  4. Upon acceptance, you will receive an enrollment form and contract electronically. You will be asked to make a tuition commitment and a non-refundable payment in the amount of one month’s tuition. Tuition deposits will be credited to your child’s annual tuition bill.

Payment Policy

Tuition can be paid as a single upfront payment or split into ten monthly installments. Payments may be made by cash, check or PayPal. Please make checks payable to Moonflower Montessori School and include the student’s name and month in the memo line. If using PayPal there is a processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30.

If paying monthly, the following conditions also apply:

  • Payment is due on the 1st day of each month (starting in September). After the 5th, a $50.00 late fee is assessed. An additional fee of $10.00/day will be assessed for each day late after the 5th.
  • Tuition reminders and account statements will be sent out electronically at the end of each the month.
  • All accounts must be kept current. An overdue account may result in your child(ren) being withdrawn from the school. Unusual circumstances are subject to review by the Board of Directors. Please contact us if you are aware of a problem in paying tuition.
  • The School is entitled to full payment of the year’s tuition, fees, and charges, and no adjustment of the tuition will be made in any circumstance including absence, withdrawal or dismissal of students during the school year without justifiable cause. A refund would be subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
